Scoring

By |April 22nd, 2012|

Been too busy living stories to share them lately. But don’t worry, there are some good ones coming. We are, right now, motoring out of Resurrection Bay on another 7 day wave hunt in the Gulf of Alaska. Forecast is looking good, great crew of surfers aboard, looking like another dream coming true.

Boat trip to Kodiak Island. Scenic. Stormy. Surf.

By |November 27th, 2011|

It’s no secret that Kodiak Island can be a windy place, but three weeks straight with winds gusting over 50mph? That just doesn’t seem possible! Well, fortunately we all lived to tell the story of enduring a non-stop series of epic winter storms while on a surf trip around Kodiak Island by boat.

Three waves keep the search stoke alive in AK

Still frame from the video clip below.

As avid followers of Surf Alaska may recall, last winter we made a four week surf exploration across the gulf of Alaska aboard the m/v Milo. The video clip below is just a little taste of the waves we scored on that adventure.

Surf & SUP exploring Alaska

By |September 4th, 2011|

The m/v Milo arrived in Seward, Alaska yesterday evening after four non-stop days of surf and stand up paddle exploration in the Kenai Fiords National Park and Gulf of Alaska. The surf was better than we had expected and we are stoked after discovering three new spots on this trip so far.

Slab GoPro video

By |February 8th, 2011|

If you’ve been following along here you know that we have been taking the m/v Milo out from Homer to discover new breaks on the outer coast of the Kenai Peninsula. We just returned from our fourth trip out there yesterday. This morning I put together a few clips I shot using the GoPro video camera mounted on my SUP paddle. This footage is from our third adventure out to the Gulf and our second time riding this slab wave we’ve named Pop Ups.

Sleuthing an Alaskan Slab

Iceman on a freshly discovered Alaskan slab

This was our second trip with the m/v Milo out to the Gulf of Alaska from Homer. Swell was forecasted to be something between seven and fifteen feet. The first day was windy, the swell was strong but it took us a few hours to discover a break that was sheltered from the wind coming in off the Gulf. No photos of that spot, too much excitement to get on some waves for me and try out the 10ft boardworks SUP on some real waves.

Yesterday’s wave

By |January 26th, 2011|

We just got home this morning from a couple days of surfing in the Gulf of Alaska. Monday was a bit breezy and kept us exploring the coastline aboard the m/v Milo for a while before we found a nice punchy wave with an offshore breeze. Yesterday the wind was mellow and the swell was strong. The photo above is […]

Surfing Petrof Glacier from the M/V Milo

By |January 5th, 2011|

I couldn’t count the number of times we have been floating in the lineup at Petrof Glacier daydreaming about having the M/V Milo anchored up right there with us. In our little dream she would be there rolling in the swell waiting for us to have our fun then return to her for a nice hot shower, dinner, maybe a soak in the hot tub before crawling in a bunk for the night just to get up early and do it all again.

Keep dreaming my friends, they do come true!
