Are you thinking about buying your own stand up paddleboard or wetsuit gear, but want to try it out a little more first? Or, maybe you know what you want, but are waiting for your PFD deposit. Surf Alaska is offering a deal just for you. Any amount you spend on renting gear will be credited towards your purchase of similar items purchased within 60 days, up to a total discount of 20%! We want you to get out and have fun on the water now and still be able to afford the gear you want when you are ready to buy.

Rentals (based in Homer, Alaska)

We have a quickly growing assortment of SUP boards, surfboards and wetsuits available for rent. Hourly and up to 24hr rentals are for the Homer area only. 3 Day and Weekly rentals can be taken anywhere you like in Alaska.

  • Hourly – The gear for an hour, or however many you’d like.
  • 1/2 Day – A half day is a 4 hour rental.
  • Daily – A daily rental is all day, but has to be returned by 5:30pm.
  • 24hr – Enjoy the gear for a full trip around the sun, or 2 tide cycles. Gear must be returned by 5:30pm on the second day.
  • 3 Day – A 3 day rental is for 3 calendar days. The gear must be returned by 5:30pm on the third calendar day.
  • Weekly – A weekly rental is for seven calendar days. The gear must be returned by 5:30pm on the seventh calendar day.

Stand Up Paddleboards

Our SUP rental fleet are C4 Waterman  soft deck Pohakus in 11′ and 12′ lengths. These boards are perfect for beginners and intermediate stand-up paddlers. The 11-foot or 12-foot length combined with the 32-inch width and generous thickness makes for a nice, stable, fast-gliding board, perfect for inland lakes and waterways and off shore touring, yet with enough rocker to be able to surf too. The boards are a typical rigid construction except instead of the deck pad only covering part of the deck, almost the entire top of these boards are covered with a soft and grippy surface. The 12-foot boards can easily handle two medium size paddlers for some tandem fun.

Surfboards

The demand for rental surfboards on the Kenai Peninsula hasn’t warranted us building a dedicated rental fleet yet. However, we do have a handful of extra boards around that we are happy to make available. If you are interested Contact Surf Alaska and we’ll make sure you don’t miss your chance to surf the last frontier.

Wetsuits etc.

This may not surprise you, but it’s hard to keep your surf stoke fired up in Alaska unless you are dressed appropriately. Fortunately, Surf Alaska has a nice selection of wetsuits that will keep you smiling and wondering how it’s possible to be so comfy splashing around in the water up here near the North Pole. If we don’t have just the right gear for you, we’ll make you a deal on the almost just right gear. All wetsuit rentals come with booties and gloves. Suits are not to be used for sport, subsistence, or commercial fishing without prior approval.
