It’s official, we Alaskans have our own Surfrider Foundation Chapter! The application was approved in early February and now it is time for our first real meeting.
When: Wednesday March 2nd, 2011 7-9pm
Where: Captain’s Coffee in Homer, Alaska
Who: Anyone interested. (You don’t have to be a surfer)
What: Meet, greet, sign up memberships, and discuss interests/possibilities.
In these early stages of the chapter we are focusing on connecting the surf community in Alaska and educating ourselves on any existing or impending environmental issues that might affect our surf stoke. If you cannot join us for the meeting but have something you’d like to share please contact Scott, or leave a comment below and I’ll make sure you are a part of the meeting. This is your chapter so speak up and make it a good thing for surfing in Alaska!
If you’d like to join as a surfrider member please sign up online and be sure to select Alaska as your local chapter.
Surfrider’s Mission statement:
The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education.
Born and raised in HI, was introduced to SUP in OGG couple of years ago…I have a career here in ANC w/ the airlines ……..I go to Hawaii often and I think a good inflatable sup would be appropriate for me but I’m used to big, heavy boards for stability. I’m still a newby at it but I LOVE it and I tell everyone here about the health bennies. Please update me on your next demo days or rental trips. I want to rent them for me and my buddies, I’m obsessed!
